2020 Living Treasure

Catherine Bartho

Cath trained as a Pharmacist, working in Beecroft pharmacies for many decades. She has had numerous voluntary roles including Girl Guides, St John's Anglican Church, Beecroft Cheltenham History Group, North Shore Cavalcade of Fashion, as well as roles with Macquarie University Graduations and the Olympic Games. More unusually, she has also housed two homeless men in a flat under her house, which the neighbours weren’t always that happy about! Cath went back to study in her 50s, obtaining a BA in Australian History from Macquarie University. She regularly shares her Australian history knowledge in the local community, teaching the true and hilarious history stories of our past – including what women hide in their underwear!
