The Beecroft Rotary Youth Awards aim to provide students with meaningful recognition for their diverse achievements and engagement within the community. Our goal for this award program is to provide the opportunity for students to gain knowledge, experiences and connections through a meaningful investment in their passions. Through the award ceremony, we hope to join the community in celebration of the youth of Beecroft. The event will be held at the Beecroft Community Centre on Sunday, 24 March at 12:30-3pm (click here to register for the event).

 

Please feel inclined to nominate yourself, or a student who you feel embodies one of our many award categories. If you would like to nominate yourself, or a student for multiple awards please complete the form several times.

Award Categories

The award categories are as follows:

  • Youth Volunteer of the Year - This award recognises senior students that have demonstrated passion and commitment to volunteering to advance one or more of Rotary’s seven areas of focus while displaying qualities that reflect Rotary’s motto, ‘Service Above Self.’

  • Young Sportsperson of the Year - This award recognises senior students who have excelled in their sport(s) as an individual and/or team. They are dedicated, committed and display sportsmanship in all of their endeavours.

  • Young Journalist of the Year - This award recognises senior students who have shown passion and potential in journalism or related fields through published writing. Their outstanding written communication skills may be evident in school newsletters, online writing or print publications.

  • Young Performer of the Year - This award recognises senior students who excel in the performing arts and creative fields. They have a passion for engaging and entertaining audiences and are committed to continual improvement in their performances or creative projects.

  • Young Person in STEM of the Year - This award recognises senior students who excel in science, technology, engineering or maths and have applied their skills to advance a personal or professional project.

  • Young Environmentalist of the Year - This award recognises senior students who actively advocate for the protection of the environment. They aim to support local, regional and global initiatives which drive change and sustainability. 

  • Young Entrepreneur of the Year - This award recognises senior students who have established their own business or created a business plan that is ready for immediate action. 

  • Young Creator of the Year - This award recognises senior students who excel in creative or innovative areas such as visual arts, textiles, industrial technology, metal work,digital, etc. and have applied their skills to advance a personal or professional project.

  • Bill Grant Memorial Award (Future Educator of the Year) - TThis award recognises senior students who are building the skills and experiences to pursue a future career in education. The goal is to encourage students to consider their potential to support future generations of students and young people - whether as teachers, mentors, principals, careers advisers, coaches, learning support officers, policy writers or community leaders. The award is named after Dr William Grant, a former School Inspector for NSW and President of Beecroft Rotary.
